There are those who associate Julianne Moore with Tom Ford, and those who probably think of The Big Lebowski, but now the actress has entered an entirely different category—she’s been named the new face of Talbots.
Her first ad is at left. Moore looks stunning, of course, wearing a cap-sleeve denim dress with camel sling back kitten heels and sitting on a bench smelling pink roses. The campaign, and the partnership, is a pretty big image shift for both the actress and the retailer, like Talbots is to Ann Taylor as Ann Taylor is to J.Crew.
Last year, Ann Taylor made a huge marketing shift, sticking people like Karen Elson and Naomi Watts in leopard print coats with windblown hair. They recruited well known stylists to re-work outfits and their windows were suddenly full of layered looks. The brand was following J.Crew’s lead—and it worked.
Meanwhile, Talbots is in even greater need of a pick me up, and given the amount of press Ann Taylor’s received for its newest celebrity face—Katie Holmes—they must be sure Moore can give it to them. Click through for more images!
